Gillette advertisers living life on the edge with ad of transition Transgender dude being taught to shave
Gillette advertisers are once again living life on the edge with a new ad released on their Facebook page of a transitioning transgender dude (in other words a chick) being taught to shave.
The ad tells the story of transgender man Samson Bonkeabantu Brown experiencing his first shave as a dude.
The video shows the Toronto-based artist standing in front of a bathroom mirror as his father coaches him.
“Now, don’t be scared,” his father says. “Shaving is about being confident.”
“Growing up, I was always trying to figure out what kind of man I wanted to become and I’m still trying to figure out what kind of man that I want to become,” Brown said in the video,
“I always knew I was different. I didn’t know that there was a term for the type of person that I was.”
Gillette previously ran a controversial ad attacking ‘toxic masculinity’ after all of the uproar of the #MeToo movement exposing Hollywood perverts. Not really sure how many more razors they are going to sell telling men they are bullies and getting chicks that are wanting to be dudes to buy their razors. Weren’t they already buying even more razors to shave their legs?
In the toxic masculinity ad Gillette shows young boys bullying each other and beating each other up, older men touching women’s shoulders in business meetings, and suburban dads lined up at a never-ending row of charcoal grills saying, “Boys will be boys,” over and over while watching incidents of light violence.
The voiceover poses the question: “Is this the best a man can get?”
Good luck Gillette selling more razors attacking men as bullies and to chicks that want to be dudes.
