House GOP leaders call for second Special Counsel to investigate abuses by Obama FBI & DOJ
Two House GOP representatives have called for a second special counsel to investigate abuses by the Obama FBI and DOJ.
Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) said Monday he backs the appointment of another special counsel to look at how law enforcement has handled the Russia probe. Scalise’s statement echoed similar calls from Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) over the weekend.
Both Scalise and McCarthy want to be on record as supporting the President and a second special counsel as both are in line for Speaker of the House if Speaker Ryan steps down early. Ryan has already announced his retirement but hopes to stay till the end of his term. There is pressure within the party for him to step down immediately.
“I agree with the many others who have called for the appointment of an additional special counsel,” Scalise said in a statement Monday.
“We need a second special counsel,” McCarthy told Fox News on Saturday.
Neither Paul Ryan or Mitch McConnell have expressed interest in a second special counsel. That should come as no surprise since they are both swamp creatures and Trump haters. They may not verbalize the hating part but they both have done everything they can do to block the Trump agenda.
The Mueller investigation is going into its second year after spending near 20 million tax dollars and Mueller still has nothing. Yet the Obama FBI and DOJ implanted a spy in the Trump campaign. Got a FISA warrant based on opposition research that they knew was fake. And the Obama administration and crooked Hillary made a deal with the Russians to sell them one-fifth of the US uranium and nothing has been done about it. Jeff Sessions is sleeping on the job. Time to wake him up.
