Broward County Sheriff refuses to resign says if sheriffs did not have “the heart” to go into school “that’s not my responsibility”
Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel is refusing to resign and full of excuses for his lack of leadership. Israel says of Sheriff deputies that refused to enter Stoneman Douglas High school and stop the carnage that left 17 dead. “I gave him a gun. I gave him a badge, I gave him the training. If he didn’t have the heart to go in, that’s not my responsibility.”

Israel is taking a beating on Twitter under the #ResignSheriffIsrael and more than 70 Florida lawmakers have called on Florida Governor Rick Scott to suspend Israel. Scott has said he will wait on an investigation on the matter.
The NRA and it’s members have been senselessly blamed for a tragedy it had no role in while the Broward County Sheriff’s Department abdication of their sworn duty to serve and protect has gotten a pass from the Left. Shameful. #ResignSheriffIsrael pic.twitter.com/nlHiEKIX4C

President Trump after meeting with Florida school shooting survivors this week, said he wants “highly trained” teachers to carry guns in an effort to deter the next mass casualty event. Some schools in Ohio, Missouri and 10 other states that allow concealed carry in schools.
Many object to the concept of arming teachers and say we instead should have armed guards outside of schools for protection. My response would be that Stoneman Douglas High school had at least 4 Broward County Sheriff at the school and they hid behind their cars while students were being slaughtered inside.
I cannot even imagine how difficult it would be to be in law enforcement. The job is low paying, high stress and most of the time underappreciated. Something is wrong in Broward County. The odds are that one sheriff deputy might have been a coward. But 4 deputies on the scene and none of them went in and engaged the teen madman. They were ordered not to engage. Israel should resign immediately.
