NBA commissioner players will stand

players will stand

NBA commissioner left no doubt NBA players will stand for the National anthem. The NBA will have no part in the nonsense that is creating havoc in the NFL.

It’s been a rule as long as I’ve been involved with the league,” said Adam Silver, the NBA’s commissioner, about standing for the playing of the national anthem, The Associated Press reported. “And my expectation is that our players will continue to stand for the anthem.”

A memo was sent to all 30 NBA teams by deputy commissioner Mark Tatum. It was sent to the league owners, team presidents and general managers. The purpose of the letter was to give them a guideline of how to deal with players. But the intent is direct and simple. NBA teams will stand for the National anthem.

The original rule to stand for the anthem was put in place to make sure that players were not shooting or running drills during the anthem. With the current climate in the NFL the rule is even more important now.

The NBA has to see the total chaos the anthem protest have caused in the NFL. And how disgusted fans are by the collective fit over President Trump’s  September 22 comments seen below.

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these  NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!’”. Trump went on to say:“You know, some owner is going to do that. He’s going to say, ‘That guy that disrespects our flag, he’s fired.’ And that owner, they don’t know it [but] they’ll be the most popular person in this country.”

NFL players continued their collective fit this weekend with the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks having the largest number of kneelers. Most teams stood although there were copy cats of the Dallas Cowboys kneeling right before the anthem which is still very disrespectful. The Miami Dolphins might have had the most egregious protest. Playing in London on foreign soil 3 players knelt for the anthem then stood for God save the Queen.

The NBA commissioner has balls where Roger Goodell does not. He is going to save the league a ton of grief. Players will stand.
