ESPN co-host compared Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to a slave owner
ESPN Michael Wilbon has compared Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to a slave owner. Wilbon, co-host of “Pardon the Interruption,” took issue with Mr. Jones’ stance that players who do not stand for the national anthem before football games will not play.
“And the word that comes to my mind―and I don’t care who doesn’t like me using it―is plantation,” Mr. Wilbon said on Monday’s show. “The players are here to serve me, and they will do what I want. No matter how much I pay them, they are not equal to me. That’s what this says to me and mine.”
ESPN is cracking up they are becoming the CNN of sports. Their insistence of mixing liberal politics with sports is ruining the network. And you really have to work hard to screw up sports. I mean for football basically the announcers need to be knowledgeable, the game shown needs to be competitive, and have the eye candy sideline reporter. How can you screw that up.
But ESPN has managed to do just that. The Wilbon idiotic comment came on the same day Jemele Hill was suspended from ESPN for tweeting about politics. Hill was not actually suspended for spewing out her liberal vomit on air.She referred to Donald Trump as a “white supremacist” and was not suspended. What got her suspended was when she was stupid enough to call for a boycott anti-kneeling NFL advertisers. I guess she didn’t stop to think they were the same people paying her salary.
ESPN declined to comment on Wilbon’s comments but issued the following statement on Hill’s suspension. “Jemele Hill has been suspended for two weeks for a second violation of our social media guidelines,” ESPN said in a statement. “She previously acknowledged letting her colleagues and company down with an impulsive tweet.”
ESPN here is some advice take it or leave it. Instruct your announcers and host to talk about sports, comment on games. You have a captive audience that is looking for a release from everyday life. You don’t have to convert the world to Socialism we have MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS and every other mainstream news outlet to do that for us.
