According to the Daily Beast the Uproar over new Nike ad campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick is Empty Right Wing hysteria
Liberal rag The Daily Beast describes the uproar over Colin Kaepernick getting a Nike just do it jig as Empty right wing hysteria. Kaepernick who single highhandedly has turned the National Football league from an organization where you watch FOOTBALL, hot sideline reporters and smoking hot cheerleaders into a social justice cause.
Now Nike has decided to enter the fray and tie the failed quarterback and social justice with their most iconic slogan. The Beast seems to think Nike knows what they are doing after all large organizations have rather large marketing departments. And we all know these marketing people are geniuses look no further than the developer of New Coke.
The Beast compares Kaepernick to Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, LeBron James, Charles Barkley, Serena Williams all successfully vetted and used in Nike ad campaigns. But to make the comparison accurate wouldn’t Kaepernick have to actually accomplish something in sports? Have we really reached the point that being a social justice warrior makes you an iconic sports figure in the likes of Michael Jordan?
The Beast writer describes Kaepernick’s initial act of taking a knee during the National anthem to protest police brutality towards black people. This drove some people crazy, presumably because they have never been exposed to the idea that a silent, non-disruptive protest against an institution you think is committing grave injustices might be kind of a good idea if you were trying to shed light on those injustices.

Kneeling according to Kaepernick did start as a protest against police brutality against black people. Then another social justice warrior Michael Bennett of the Seahawks got arrested for resisting arrest in Las Vegas and it expanded to a social justice mission.
In a 2017 campaign speech President Trump entered the fray and said “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!’” and the police brutality/social justice cause became a we hate Trump and he can’t tell us what to do cause.
It remains to be seen if the Nike campaign will be successful. Already there are videos on youtube of people burning their Nike apparel. It it all a bunch or right wing hysteria or has Nike developed an ad campaign equal to New Coke?
