Huffington Post Writer “Relax Boomers, Socialism is cool , tell that to people eating donkeys in Venezuela
Huffington post writer Zack Carter recently published a story saying relax boomers Socialism is good now. The premise of the article is that baby boomers grew up in an educational era where Socialism and it’s close cousin Communism were the United States moral enemies.
Millennials have not been educated to have a healthy fear of Communism and Marxism. Then did not grow up in the Cold War hiding under their desk performing mock bomb drills. Ronald Reagan and the weight of Communism brought about the demise of the Soviet Union and thus an end to the cold war. Now our only worry from Russia is interference in our elections. Although they still possess nuclear weapons and still are a threat. The threat has been minimized.
Millennials were educated in an era where Socialist have taken over public education and higher education. They have not been taught the dangers of Socialism and the fact that Karl Marx is responsible for the deaths of more than 100 million people. The problem is the Socialist professors of millennials more than likely did not even teach them about Karl Marx.
They were not taught about Fidel Castro and the oppression and murder in Communist Cuba. “The price? I couldn’t begin to give you the numbers,” says Carlos Ponce, the director of the Latin American and Caribbean division of the human-rights group Freedom House. “I can tell you that 2 million Cubans live outside Cuba, I can tell you that in the last 10 years, there have been nearly 18,000 political detainees.
“How many in jail since 1959? How many executed? How many lost at sea? I can’t even guess.”
Still the message from the Huffington Post author, relax boomers. Socialism is good.
Carter says, “Socialism is not a static, concrete ideology.” So Socialist Venezuela where citizens are eating donkeys, zoo animals and their household pets. How is Socialism working there? Citizens cannot even afford public education so they are transported in kennels. Basically very unsafe cattle cars. This is the problem with millennials and people like Carter. Their argument for Socialism is it has never been tried correctly.
In other words they cannot name a successful example of Socialism.
Carter says, you get the idea: much of what conservatives decried as “socialist” in the 20th century today enjoys broad support among liberals, leftists and even many conservatives.
Polling in recent years has consistently shown a majority of millennials are enthusiastic about “socialism,” often preferring it to “capitalism.” For millennials, “capitalism” means “unaccountable rich people ripping off the world,” while “socialism” simply means “not that.”
New York Socialist darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently defeated 10 term incumbent Joe Crowley who had been mentioned as a possible replacement for Nancy Pelosi. The problem is Ocasio-Cortez describes herself as a Democratic Socialist. Yet she cannot even describe what that means.
“I believe that every American should have stable, dignified housing, healthcare, education–that the most very basic needs to sustain modern life should be guaranteed in a moral society, Alexander Ocasio-Cortez..
The Huffington Post writer ends the article, No gulags just dignity. He again challenges relax boomers. Socialism is cool. No thanks I believe I will continue to fight against Socialism wherever it shows its ugly head.
