President Trump says a date and time has been set for North Korea summit
President Trump giving impromptu interview before leaving for NRA convention where he will be speaking later today said a time and place had been chosen for his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Reports are the meeting will be held the end of May possibly beginning of June at the DMZ or perhaps Singapore has also been mentioned.
President Trump also hinted that the release of three American prisoners could come soon. Reports are that the prisoners have been moved from a labor camp to a hotel near Pyongyang.
“We’re having very substantive talks with North Korea and a lot of things have already happened with respect to the (U.S.) hostages. I think you’re going to see very good things,” Trump told reporters.
President Trump mentioned last week that he liked the imagery of meeting at the Peace House at the DMZ.
Trump also told reporters on Friday that he was not considering reducing the U.S. military’s presence in South Korea as part of the negotiations.
“Troops are not on the table,” he said before a flight to Dallas, Texas, where he will address the National Rifle Association.
The North Korean summit will be historic whatever is accomplished. But it is clear that Kim Jong Un knows that he is dealing with a different type of American negotiator than in the past and President Trump will not tolerate any of his foolishness.
