Pennsylvania school district arms teacher with small baseball bat to protect themselves and students

arm teachers

A Pennsylvania school district has decided to arm teachers with a small baseball bat in the case of an attack on themselves and their students. If this was not so stupid it would be humorous. They are not even real baseball bats like a Louisville slugger. These are like the souvenir bat you would get your kid. All it is going to do is piss off an active shooter and get the teacher shot first.

Even if it were an official Louisville slugger my guess would be that a bullet would arrive before you could get close enough to hit the next deranged mass killer. It is ridiculous the extent that these liberals will go to deny students protection. A couple of weeks ago a school district decided to arm each classroom with a bucket of rocks. The students probably have a better chance with the rocks than with the toy baseball bat.

The Millcreek Township School District outside of Erie gained attention this week for handing out the 16-inch bats to about 500 teachers as part of a training that included how to react during a school shooting.

Parents are of course not happy with the liberal pacifist solution to possible school violence.

“It’s not going to make some shooter stop and say, ‘Hey, I probably shouldn’t go in and do this,'” Jo Ellen Barish, a Parent Teacher Association president with a child attending a Millcreek middle school, said Wednesday.

“The people who do these things aren’t planning on getting away alive. It’s not like they have a fear of being hurt,” she added.

School superintendent William Hall admitted the  bats were largely symbolic and were meant to be used as a “last resort.”

“We passed them out, with the goal being we wanted every room to have one of these,” Hall said of his district of more than 7,000 students. “Unfortunately, we’re in a day and age where one might need to use them to protect ourselves and our kids.”

Instead of deciding to arm teachers with rocks and toy baseball bats perhaps the Pennsylvania school districts should consult Maryland. The news of the Maryland hero resource officer got very little to no press coverage. Why, because he acted and stopped the threat and didn’t go hide behind a car or grab a rock or his toy baseball bat.
