The battle over illegals continues with California, State sues Trump administration over Census Citizenship question
California returned fire against the Trump administration in the latest battle between Sacramento and Washington DC. The 2020 Census is to include an citizenship question and this has triggered liberals across the nation in sanctuary cities and states. California is filing suit against the Trump administration for their efforts to enforce federal immigration laws and get an accurate census of US CITIZENS.
The Commerce department announced Monday that it would resume the long-abandoned practice of asking about citizenship during the Census, which is taken every 10 years. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said that information is needed to enforce the Voting Rights Act, which protects minority voters.
California Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed the lawsuit saying that asking the citizenship question is unconstitutional (I want to see what provision is violated) and will intimidate illegals from taking part in the census.
Other liberals including California Senator Diane Feinstein are opposed to the citizenship question. “An accurate count of everyone living in the United States is vital to our democracy,” Feinstein added “Adding a question designed to depress participation in certain communities is an assault on the foundations of this country.”
California and Washington DC have been at odds since President Trump took over the Presidency from open borders man Barack Hussein Obama. The Presidents attorney general Jeff Sessions traveled to Sacramento in March to announce a federal lawsuit against California’s sanctuary cities.
“Open borders is a radical, irrational idea that cannot be accepted,” Sessions said In a speech to local law enforcement officials.
California is a breeding ground for politicians breaking federal immigration laws. Recently Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf defied federal immigration laws and warned illegals of impending ICE raids. By warning illegals many criminals were able to evade capture. Schaaf has said she is willing to go to jail to protect the illegals. It is time for the Federal Government to start granting the wishes of these California politicians breaking immigration laws.
