Mitch McConnell 2017 the best year for Conservatives in my 30 years in Congress
During an interview broadcast on Monday’s edition of the Fox News Channel’s “Daily Briefing,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said 2017 was the best year for conservatives in the 30 years that he’s been in Washington, and the Trump administration has been a “very solid, conservative, right of center, pro-business administration.”
McConnell said, “2017 was the best year for conservatives in the 30 years that I’ve been here. The best year. On all fronts. And a lot of people are shocked. Because we didn’t know what we were getting with Donald Trump. He was doing fundraisers for Chuck Schumer three or four years ago. But this has turned out to be a very solid, conservative, right of center, pro-business administration. And we’re seeing the results of it.”

Senator McConnell may be giving a preview of what to expect from Congress and Conservatives in Congress in 2018. For most of 2017 Senator McConnell and Speaker Ryan were blocking the Trump agenda in Congress. As an outsider in McConnell’s own words they did not know what they were getting. Trump had run as a Conservative but so had George HW Bush and George W Bush and they were not poster Presidents for Conservationism.
It will be exciting to see what happens for the US in 2018. President Trump just finished a very successful meeting in Davos Switzerland at the World Economic Forum where he said the US is open for business. Over 250 companies have announced raises, bonuses and new investment in the US in the billions of dollars. With Mitch McConnell and Speaker Ryan on board with the Trump agenda 2018 could be very exciting.
