Time to “drain the swamp” people
In a recent interview with former Trump former White House Chief Strategist said Mitch McConnell told him and the President to “back off the Drain the swamp” talk. He also said “the Republican establishment is trying to nullify the results of the 2016 election.
Why would the term “drain the swamp” be offensive to Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan? Because they are ground zero of “the swamp”. What Trump is referring to when he says “drain the swamp is the Washington establishment. Mitch McConnell has been in the US Senate for 33 years and Paul Ryan in the House of Representatives for 18 years. If you look further into the swamp John McCain has been in the Washington for 35 years serving 8 years in the House then the last 27 in the Senate. Lindsey Graham (Grahamnesty) has been in Washington for 22 years, 8 in the House and the past 14 in the Senate.
The current Congress average service is 9.1 years for the House and 10.2 for the Senate. This is the swamp people. Term limits for Congress is a concept that has been discussed since the 1990’s and beyond. It is one of the core concepts that President Trump ran on. But the reality is that Congress is not going to vote to limit their time in Washington. Most of these men enter Washington with limited wealth McCain from military service, Lindsey Graham from working his way up from the South Carolina Senate and Mitch McConnell again lifelong politician beginning as an intern in Kentucky.
How do these people enter Washington with limited income and become multimillionaires?
Altogether, 13 Republican senators, including McConnell, on average received $214,000 in contributions from health insurance and pharmaceutical companies from November 2010 to November 2016. This is just the Republicans people. I am not even including the Democrats who we know their sole mission is to make sure Trump fails.
Paul Ryan raised 90 million dollars in 2016 alone and 52 million came from Ryan’s own political committees.
Bannon is right we do not have repeal and replace, we do not have the funding for the wall and we will not have tax cuts because “the swamp” does not want them. The only way we are going to get term limits is for people to quit electing these career politicians, on both sides. Time is now to “drain the swamp” the establishment has to go.
